Kaleidosco Pretty Cure! (カレイドスコープリキュア! Kareidosukō Purikyua!) is a Pretty Cure fanseries concept by Beatriz Barreto. It'll most likely be written once the author is finished with her current project, Power Rangers RPM ReGeared.

Plot[]

At the tail end of a vacation trip to Prague, while exploring the Old Town, 13-year-old Ozora Wakana and her older brother Suzaku witness the locals being attacked by strange footsoldiers, being led by a woman on a horse. Unable to withstand the sight of innocent lives at risk, Wakana rushes in to help, and the woman on the horse strikes her down with a powerful blast of darkness. But then… Wakana is saved by a mysterious woman in a white dress decorated with all the colors of the rainbow. This person is referred to as a Pretty Cure, Cure Iris, who makes the footsoldiers vanish with rainbow attacks. Wakana becomes so fascinated with Cure Iris that she can’t bring herself to stop thinking about her, even after she and her brother return to Japan.

Back home, Wakana finds two colorful turtles with gem-encrusted half-shells hiding in her suitcase; as it turns out, they’re actually sentient, identifying themselves as fairies named Crys and Gemma. They claim to hail from the land of Kaleidoscopia, which is threatened by the world-eating being known as Mocksyrock, who imprisoned the queen in a vase to collect her tears, and sent his servants, the Four Horsemen of Heartbreak, to Earth -- or Reflektia, as it's known to them -- in pursuit of the princess, who just so happens to be Cure Iris. When a shadow monster attacks the neighborhood the Ozora family lives in, Wakana is driven to fend it off, and this causes her to awaken the Flutter Spinel, one of the four Kaleido Stones brought to Earth by the turtle fairies, and thus, Wakana becomes Cure Breeze, a Pretty Cure with air and wind powers.

With three more Kaleido Stones left to be awakened, Wakana eventually comes to assemble a full team of four, with aspiring ballroom dancer Kasumi Urabe becoming Cure Ocean, student council president Chihiro Tsuchiya becoming Cure Seism, and rowdy but righteous teen delinquent Homura Yanagi becoming Cure Ardor. Together, the Kaleidosco Pretty Cure team are set to do what they can to protect their world from Mocksyrock and his Four Horsemen of Heartbreak and collect all the Rainbow Tears they can to save Kaleidoscopia from certain doom, all while investigating on the whereabouts of Cure Iris.

Characters[]

Pretty Cure[]

Ozora Wakana (大空 わかな Ōzora Wakana) / Cure Breeze (キュアブリーズ Kyua Burīzu)

  • Intro: "The Spinel Feathers Fluttering in the Spring Wind! Cure Breeze!" (春の風に翻るスピネル羽!キュアブリーズ!)
  • Finisher: "Pretty Cure Spinel Squall!" (プリキュア・スピネルスコール!)
  • Signature Color: Pink
  • Hypothetical VA: Hondo Kaede

A gentle and curious girl, who, at the tender age of 13, is about to enter her second year at Ishimori Private Middle School. She’s a little on the flighty side, but has a strong sense of justice and is more than willing to stand her ground for what she believes in, to the point of coming across as stubborn. She loves photography and always carries her camera around with her, as she believes “there’s always a Kodak moment just around the corner”, and she dreams of exploring the world and taking pictures of all the beautiful sights it has to offer. As Cure Breeze, connected to the Flutter Spinel Kaleido Stone, she gains power over the air and wind.

Urabe Kasumi (浦辺 かすみ Urabe Kasumi) / Cure Ocean (キュアオーシャン Kyua Ōshan)

  • Intro: "The Jade Foam Rising Onto the Shore! Cure Ocean!" (岸に尻上がるジェイド泡!キュアオーシャン!)
  • Finisher: "Pretty Cure Jade Submerge!" (プリキュア・ジェイドサブマージ!)
  • Signature Color: Green
  • Hypothetical VA: Ito Miku

A 14-year-old second-year student at Ishimori Private Middle School, Kasumi is an extraverted, elegant and passionate girl with somewhat dramatic tendencies. Daughter of a couple of world-champion Latin Ballroom dancers, she wants to follow in their footsteps, and is very dedicated to her craft. Her biggest dream is to head to Blackpool and win a world championship at the famous Tower Ballroom, just as her parents have done in the past. As Cure Ocean, connected to the Splash Jade Kaleido Stone, she gains power over water, specifically ocean water.

Tsuchiya Chihiro (土也 ちひろ Tsuchiya Chihiro) / Cure Seism (キュアシーズム Kyua Shīzumu)

  • Intro: "The Citrine Tremors Splitting the Earth! Cure Seism!" (大地を割れるシトリン震!キュアシーズム!)
  • Finisher: "Pretty Cure Citrine Rumble!" (プリキュア・シトリンランブル!)
  • Signature Color: Yellow
  • Hypothetical VA: Tanezaki Atsumi

The reliable student council president of Ishimori Private Middle School. Athletic, intelligent and responsible, she’s seen as a model student, and is admired by many, especially the female students. However, deep down, Chihiro feels pressured to maintain her so-called “perfect” image, and wishes she could just be herself, get a little down and dirty every so often, live without having to worry about others’ expectations -- most of all as she dreams of becoming a pro-wrestler. As Cure Seism, connected to the Tremor Citrine Kaleido Stone, she gains power over the earth, soil and rocks.

Yanagi Homura (夜凪 ほむら Yanagi Homura) / Cure Ardor (キュアアードール Kyua Ādōru)

  • Intro: "The Sapphire Flames Turning Up the Temperature! Cure Ardor!" (温度を上げるサファイア炎!キュアアードール!)
  • Finisher: "Pretty Cure Sapphire Works!" (プリキュア・サファイアワークス!)
  • Signature Color: Blue
  • Hypothetical VA: Tadokoro Azusa

A mouthy 13-year-old who has to transfer to Ishimori Private Middle School due to alleged "delinquent" behavior, constantly starting fights and “vandalizing school property” by spray-painting the walls of the faculty building. While there is some truth to this, Homura doesn’t bear any ill intentions: her tendency to jump into physical conflict is driven by a need to stand up against injustice, and the graffiti art she creates is merely the preferred form of self-expression for a secretly artistic soul. As Cure Ardor, connected to the Scorch Sapphire Kaleido Stone, she gains power over fire, specifically blue flames with higher-energy quanta.

Princess Jeanne d'Arcobaleno (プリンセスジャンヌ・ダルコバレーノ Purinsesu Jan'nu Darukobarēno) / Cure Iris (キュアアイリス Kyua Airisu)

The heir to the throne of Kaleidoscopia, who gave herself Pretty Cure powers and escaped to the human world after discovering the unfortunate predicament her mother and kingdom were placed in. After the incident in Prague, Wakana becomes fascinated with her, and even more so upon discovering she's still out there, taking on an unknown human disguise and keeping a low profile to lead the Horsemen off her scent. As Cure Iris, she possesses power over light and rainbows.

Items[]

Rainbow Tears (レインボーティアーズ Reinbō Tiāzu)

Created when hearts (both human and Kaleidoscopian) overflow with positive emotions, such as happiness, love, and relief. They’re the source of power for Kaleidoscopia and help the land and its people thrive. They can also be produced when Pretty Cure’s power purifies Shadow Tears; on such instance, they are immediately brought back to Kaleidoscopia, helping strengthen the kingdom and relieve Queen Coloratura while she remains captive.

Shadow Tears (シャドウティアーズ Shadou Tiāzu)

Created when hearts (both human and Kaleidoscopian) overflow with negative emotions, such as hatred, sadness and fear, either naturally or forced out from the victims of Mocksyrock’s forces. In the latter case, they can be extracted from one or more individuals, and when a certain amount is gathered, they can be used to create a Sanzannaa monster. When produced in excess, Kaleidoscopia withers, and the Shadow Tears produced by the royal family are deemed the most harmful.

Kaleido Stones (カレイドストーン Kareido Sutōn)

  • Flutter Spinel (フラッタースピネル Furattā Supineru)
  • Splash Jade (スプラッシュジェイド Supurasshu Jeido)
  • Tremor Citrine (トレマーシトリーン Toremā Shitorīn)
  • Scorch Sapphire (スコーチサファイア Sukōchi Safaia)

Kaleido Phones (カレイドフォーン Kareido Fōn)

The transformation items used by the Kaleidosco Pretty Cure, activated by placing the respective Kaleido Stone on the assigned circular slot at the front and calling out "Pretty Cure, Jewel Flash!" (プリキュア・ジュエルフラッシュ! Purikyua Jueru Furasshu!). They can also be used to summon the Vivid Pinwheels, and activate Pretty Cure's respective individual finishers via a scan.

Vivid Pinwheels (ビビッド・ピンウィール Bibiddo Pin'uīru): The weapons used by the Kaleidosco Pretty Cure to perform their finishers.

  • Flutter Wheel (フラッターウィール Furattā Uīru): Cure Breeze's Vivid Pinwheel, used to perform Spinel Squall.
  • Splash Wheel (スプラッシュウィール Supurasshu Uīru): Cure Ocean's Vivid Pinwheel, used to perform Jade Submerge.

Trivia[]

  • Some elements within the story (mainly Wakana's affinity for photography and her being saved by Cure Iris in Prague at the start) are inspired by the Brazilian telenovela Um Anjo Caiu do Céu, in which famous photographer João Medeiros, during a trip to Prague for one of his exhibitions, winds up taking pictures of a neo-Nazi leader in what was supposed to be a private moment of mourning. Because of this, João is targeted and caught in a neo-Nazi attack, but is saved in the nick of time by cherub Rafael.
